SAC Vice Chairman Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win offers certificates, religious titles to monks who passed 76th Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Selection Exam

A ceremony to honour 112 members of the Sangha who passed the 76th Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Selection Examination organized by the Religious Affairs Department of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar took place in conjunction with the certificate offering ceremony at Maha Pasana Cave on Thiri Mingala Kaba Aye Hill in Yangon at 8 am today.
Also present at the ceremony were members of the Sangha led by Chairman of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Presiding Patron of Thanlyin Minkyaung Buddhism Learning Centre Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja Dr Bhaddanta Candima Bhivamsa, Ovadacariya Sayadaws of Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Selection Board, Tipitakadhara Dhamma Bandagarika Sayadaws, Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Sayadaws, Tipitaka Pucchaka Sayadaws, supervisor Sayadaws, and the monks who passed the exam. Moreover, the ceremony was also attended by Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife Daw Than Than Nwe, SAC member Dr Ba Shwe, Union ministers U Maung Maung Ohn, U Tin Oo Lwin and Dr Thet Khaing Win, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and their wives, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the commander of Yangon Command, ministers of Yangon Region government, departmental officials and guests.
First, the Vice-Senior General and party took the Five Precepts from Vice Chairman of the selection examination board Ovadacariya Committee Presiding Patron of Moegaung Monastery in Hinthada of Ayeyawady Region Abhidhaja Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika Bhaddanta Sudhammacara Bhivamsa.
SSMNC Chairman Sayadaw Thanlyin Minkyaung Buddhism Learning Centre Presiding Patron Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja Dr Bhaddanta Candima Bhivamsa gave Saraniya Ovada Katha.
Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin supplicated religious affairs.
The ceremony to offer religious titles and certificates to the monks who passed the exam followed. The Vice-Senior General offered religious title and certificate to Ashin Pannasirilankara from Tipitaka Nikaya Monastery in Dagon Township of Yangon Region who secured Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida title for passing the examination and Ashin Janinda from Mingun Tipitaka Nikaya Monastery of Momeik Hill in Sagaing of Sagaing Region for passing Mula Abhidhammika subject respectively.
SAC member Dr Ba Shwe offered religious title and certificate to Ashin Pandavalankara from Mingun Tipitaka Nikaya Monastery of Momeik Hill in Sagaing of Sagaing Region, Ashin Acaralankara from Tipitaka Maha Gandawin Nikaya Monastery in Dagon Myothit (East) Township of Yangon Region and Ashin Anandapanditalankara from Mingun Tipitaka Nikaya Monastery of Momeik Hill in Sagaing of Sagaing Region for passing Mul Abhidhammika subject.
Union ministers U Maung Maung Ohn, U Tin Oo Lwin and Dr Thet Khaing Win, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the commander of Yangon Command and officials presented Mula Abhidhammika title to a monk, Digha Nikayakovida title to three monks, Digha Bhanaka title to nine monks, Vinayakovida title to five monks, Vinayadhara title to 31 monks, Ubhato Vibhangakovida title to seven monks and Ubhato Vibhangadhara title to 51 monks respectively.
The Vice-Senior General and congregation listened to a sermon delivered by SSMNC Secretary Abbot of Dhamma Thameikdi Monastery of new Masoeyein building in Mandalay Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja Maha Dhammakathika Bahujanahitadhara Bhaddanta Vasetthabhivamsa and shared merits gained.
The Vice-Senior General and wife, SAC member Dr Ba Shwe, Union ministers, the Yangon Region chief minister, senior military officers from the Office of the Commanderin-Chief, the commander of Yangon Command and their wives and officials donated offerings to monks who passed the Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Selection Examination.
The 76th Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Selection Examination turned out one Tipitakadhara Tipitakovida monk, five Mula Abhidhammika monks, three Dhiga Nikayakovida monks, nine Dhiga Bhanaka monks, five Vinayakovida monks, 31 Vinayadhara monks, seven Ubhato Vibhangakovida monks and 51 Ubhato Vibhandadhara monks, totalling 112.
Up to 76th examination, 16 Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida monks have emerged during the 76-year period. After five years of securing the title, the government offers Tipitakadhara Dhammabhandagarika title to those Sayadaws. So far, 14 members of Tipitakadhara Dhammabhandagarika Sayadaws have emerged. As five Tipitakadhara Sayadaws have emerged, there are many prospects to come out more Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida title recipient Sayadaws.
