International ports receive 42 cargo vessels in October
Myanmar is expected to see 42 international cargo vessels operate in October, according to the Myanmar Port Authority and the Ministry of Commerce.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the ministry is speeding up trade activities in cooperation with relevant departments and organizations and private entrepreneurs.
Myanmar Port Authority under the Ministry of Transport and Communications is taking measures to see arrivals of more international cargo ships at the country’s international ports, beef up maritime trade, handle more cargoes and containers and facilitate the withdrawals of cargos.
Now, ocean-going vessels can enter and leave Myanmar conveniently. There have also been 45 international jetties. From April to August 2021, 152 30,000-and-above-ton cargo vessels arrived at the ports. There were 43 vessels on June, 37 in July, 44 in August and 43 in September.
In the 2020-2021 fiscal year, export earnings in the state sector reached US$-3,105.454 million while export earnings in the private sector totalled US$-11,821.611 million.
