Terrorist groups brutally kill 12 monks for no apparent reason
Nay Pyi Taw November 16
Section 361, Chapter VIII of the Constitution (2008)of Myanmar states “The Union recognizes the special position of Buddhism as the faith professed by the great majority of the citizens of the Union.” In accord with their culture and tradition, Myanmar people show reverence for the monks. The foundation of Myanmar society is laid with teachings and a council of monks. So, Myanmar stands as a civilized and hospitable country. Thanks to the efforts of the monks in the interest of the religion, the world has recognized Myanmar as the country where Theravada Buddhism most flourishes among the countries with a Buddhist majority.
But now, the acts of terrorist groups, CRPH, NUG and PDF, have tarnished the image of the country renowned for its reputation. Those terrorist groups are heartlessly killing not only the laypersons including members of certain organizations but also the monks, who do not support their terrorist acts, to realize their dishonest political goals. The groups have assassinated 12 monks during the period from 3 May to 11 November this year as follows:
People are requested to participate in protecting the Buddhist monks of the religion professed by the majority from the ruthless killings and to covertly give information about the movements of terrorists to the nearest security troops till their existence becomes impossible.
