Brilliant future leaders with good morale and discipline must be brought out
Nay Pyi Taw December 9
Teachers assigned at academies that are producing military leaders as they meet the required qualification must bring out future leaders who have the good knowledge to give correct leadership in the practical field, high morale and can be relied on by the State and Tatmadaw by giving lectures based on their combined academic and military experiences, said Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at his meeting with commandants, senior officer instructors, senior officer lecturers, mentors and cadre officers of Defence Services Academy and Defence Services Technological Academy at DSA convocation hall this afternoon.
Also, present together with the Senior General were Com-mander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Moe Aung, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Maung Maung Kyaw, senior military officers from Office of Com-mander-in-Chief, Commander of Central Command Maj-Gen Ko Ko Oo.
First, Military Appointment General Lt-Gen Lin Aung and Chief of Armed Forces Training Lt-Gen Zaw Myo Tin reported on the number of officers produced by DSA and DSTA during the 20 years from 2000 to 2021, academic matters and the services of these officers.
In his address, the Senior General explained the purpose of the meeting which is to deal with academic matters and training. He said cadets and graduate officers must be dutiful and have selfcontrol to realize the missions and visions. Instructors must try to produce qualified and brilliant officers.
They must have strong visions while nurturing the practice of noting down all the dos and don’ts at the time when they are about to discharge duties at a higher level post. There will not be any difficulty in discharging the duty if they can apply the advanced knowledge. A review of the outcomes in producing graduate officers, teaching and those in the service during the period from 2000 to 2021 shows that some officers could not continue their active duties as they lost self-control and offended rules, failed to live according to their status or faced poor health. The main weakness was their morale. They lacked a strong spirit to control themselves. So, they could not continue their duties. It is a great loss for the country and Tatmadaw. The State and Tatmadaw have to spend a lot of time and money to provide training from the beginning through different levels for the emergence of outstanding leaders the people and the State can rely on.
So, leaders need a strong spirit to realize their vision and self-control and discipline for success.
Instructors must train them to have strong morale and self-control at the training institutions. They will become good leaders in the practical field and steer their life correctly only if they are being imparted with essential intellectual and technological knowledge and visioning power.
So, instructors should be strict in the training sessions, and should not indulge themselves or their students. As they are qualified teachers, they must systematically teach their students well by applying their academic and military knowledge and experience in a proportionate way. In this way, they must nurture good leaders.
They must always find and apply ways to improve the qualifications of trainees. After the completion of their courses, trainees must be assigned to places suitable to their qualifications.
It is not the quantity, but the quality the trainers must prioritize in bringing about good and reliable officers for the State and Tatmadaw. They must pay attention to the qualification, capability and prowess of Tatmadaw while making all-out efforts for improving the education level of soldiers and fulfilling the basic needs of families. Like the armed forces of other global countries, women officers and other ranks have been produced and they are serving their duties at the posted places like their male counterparts. Instructors of academies and training schools must improve the spirit, conviction, belief, military technology and subject-wise knowledge of all junior leaders. They must nurture them to live and act in accord with their status throughout their life and to become good leaders of future State and Tatmadaw.
