Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing graces 74th founding anniversary of Tatmadaw (Air) and commissioning of airplanes and helicopters

Nay Pyi Taw December 15

Airplanes and helicopters were commissioned into service at the 74th founding anniversary of Tatmadaw (Air) of the Republic of Union of Myanmar at Flying Training Base in Meiktila Station for enhancement of airpower of the State and Tatmadaw, graced by Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

Also present were Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, wife of the Senior General, retired commandersin-chief (Air) and their wives, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Moe Aung and wife, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Maung Maung Kyaw and wife, Union ministers, senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, the commander of Central Command, airbase commanders and invit-ed guests.

The Commander-in-Chief (Air) explained facts about the commissioning ceremony.

In his address, the Senior General said the Tatmadaw will be turned into modern and powerful armed forces to protect the land, sea and air territory of the country and the national interest.

Only then will it be able to ensure regional peace and sta-bility in addition to protecting the State’s territory and national interest.

The Tatmadaw is a Union Tatmadaw formed with natio-nal brethren. Its main duty is to protect the country from all internal and external threats. Members of Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) have sacrificed lots of blood, sweat and lives in protecting the State sovereignty together with the people for its perpetuation.

The importance of airpower is obvious in today’s warfare. Modern wars have proved the prowess of airpower and spacepower to strike any place at any time in the world. It has also confirmed the theory of air and space powers. In this regard, efforts must be made to dominate space, in addition to land, sea and air.

Multipurpose combat aircraft have been upgraded and purchased to reinforce the Tatmadaw (Air). Moreover, it has been aided with transport aircraft and helicopters and attack helicopters. In this way, the ability to dominate the country’s aerial territory has been upgraded. The Research will be conducted for the aeroplanes and helicopters to reach the second or third generation levels, although the ultimate goal is not the fourth and fifth-generation levels.

Human resources development is also important in building a modern air force. So simulators have been installed in accord with the types of air-crafts, training schools have been upgraded and airborne operation training schools have been opened to enhance the training process of pilots and technicians.

Moreover, the assembling and production HQ has been aided with necessary mechanical buildings, administrative structures and workshops to repair and produce aeroplanes and helicopters. Tatmadaw (Air) can monitor and guard the Myanmar skies as it was supplied with ground support equipment such as navigation equipment and radars. Thanks to the arrival of modern weather

radars, a newly opened aviation weather centre can distribute weather reports in time.

Modern aeroplanes and heli-copters and skilled pilots are not enough for the air force to dominate the country’s skies with high manoeuvre ability.

It must understand this. The unity of all the officers and other ranks of mechanical, aviation control, radar and weather sectors are essential for the success of military operations. It also shows the united strength.

Currently, terrorist groups, NUG, CRPH and PDF that disfavor peace and stability are blowing up schools and government-owned buildings and har-

ming innocent people and civil servants. Moreover, they are distributing fabrications and propaganda to discredit the Tatmadaw and sow seeds of mistrust between Tatmadaw and the people.  Tatmadaw mem-bers and families must study the current political situation to know the truth. They must ensure the safety of military information and papers, military equipment, military per-sonnel, military operations and training with awareness.

Every Tatmadaw member must strictly observe the military codes of conduct for inter-nal unity. All the leaders must understand the 16 leadership traits which are essential for internal unity. If there is internal unity, external unity will follow. In establishing eternal unity, Tatmadaw members must observe the military codes of conduct and serve the interest of the people to the most possible degree. Tatmadawmen and families should be loyal to the State and Tatmadaw and have goodwill in establishing internal and external unity.

The State is making all-out efforts in preventing and con-trolling COVID-19 global pan-demic and treating patients. The country could overcome the third wave through collective efforts of the government, people, Tatmadaw and respec-tive organizations in prevention, containment and treatment undertakings. But, it needs a certain length of time before the virus totally disappears. The Senior General thanked and honoured Tatmadaw (Air) for its efforts to tran-sport anti-COVID-19 vaccines, medicines and accessories in time to the ethnic areas in regions and states where tran-sport is poor.

Expensive aircraft were purchased for the Tatmadaw (Air) to keep abreast of regional countries. As the Tatmadaw (Air) possesses modern aircraft, pilots and the rank and file must have the higher qualifications to drive these aircraft.

Hence, it is necessary to take training with more efforts in accord with the motto “train to have skill”. As such, they will have the skills to operate the aircraft and successfully serve the warfare duties. They have to always maintain their skill qualification through training and take care of health and fitness.

It can be seen that the Tatmadaw (Air) has achieved many victories due to aviation operations, joint military operations with ground/naval forces, aviation supporting and brave fighting. The Tatmadaw (Air) must make more efforts for shouldering with international and regional countries.

It is necessary to build the strong, capable, modern and patriotic Tatmadaw with mo-mentum to keep abreast of armed forces from regional and global countries in the future. The Tatmadaw plays a key role in safeguarding the Our Three Main National Causes. Those wishing to break up the country are attempting to break the Tatmadaw down.

In addition to striving for mili-tary unity and organizational measures inside and outside the military units, all Tatmadaw members need to take care of military training and con-science to be ready to fight. All new generations need to sacri-fice life for maintaining the fine traditions of the Tatma-daw so as to ensure the perpetual existence of Myanmar.

Yak-130 and K-8 aeroplanes commissioned into service are types of training jets and light fighters. They can be used in air to air warfare, air to surface warfare, close aviation supporting fire, interception fighting, armed reconnaissance, and training of transfer. ATR-72 600 aeroplane is of the medium-transport aeroplane to transport very important persons, passengers and cargos and perform search and rescue works.
