Free quarantine procedure, COVID-19 testing and health care services given to returnees from abroad

1. The State Administration Council has been making arrangements to take care of the Myanmar citizens experiencing difficulties abroad due to the COVID-19 pandemic in shelter of the motherland of Myanmar through bringing them home by relief flights, the Tamadaw’s military vessels and letting them return home through border gates. In doing so, 46,622 Myanmar citizens have returned home by 904 relief flights, 1,086 by the Tatmadaw’s military vessels, and 92,133 through border gates. Of the people who returned home by relief flights, those who took facility quarantine are as follows:-

2. Under the guidance by the State Administration Council and the National-Level Central Committee on COVID-19 Prevention, Control and Treatment, the Ministry of Health, in cooperation with relevant ministries and region or state governments concerned, has taken the measures to warmly provide the returnees with a free-of-charge facility quarantine procedure at the designated places and perform COVID-19 testing with RT-PCR technique. In doing so, 2,817 of 46,622 people, who returned home by relief flights, were confirmed with COVID-19 positive, two of 1,086 people by the Tatmadaw’s military vessels, and 2,003 of 92,133 people through border gates. The total number of the people who were confirmed with COVID-19 positive was 4,822. Those COVID-19 patients had been given medical treatment by the Government at the designated places until they recovered from the illness.
