State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attends the ceremony to clarify fisheries, fish and prawn farming and implementation of projects in Myeik District

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing attended the presentation ceremony on fishery industries, fish farming and implementation of projects in Myeik District in Taninthayi The region at the office of Myeik Corporation Public Co., Ltd in Myeik this afternoon.
Also present at the ceremony were those who accompany the Senior General on the trip, the region chief minister, the commander of Coastal Region Command, district and township level departmental personnel, fish and prawn farmers in Myeik District and officials.
First, Chairman of Taninthayi Region Fisheries Federation of Myeik Corporation Public Co., Ltd U Hla Than reported on border trade, running of industrial zones, development of fishery industry in Myeik Region, construction of Htonkha-Thebyu-Mawtaung road, functioning of Mawtaung border gate, shrimp farming, off and onshore trawlers and ongoing projects and Myeik International Fish Auction Market, and Industrial Zone project in-charge U Han Htoo Aung on the plan to implement the project, Secretary of Taninthayi Region Fisheries Federation U Thet Soe on offshore and onshore trawlers, installation of VMS at trawlers, export of marine products, and project director U Aye Min Aung on Myeik district project to be implemented by BBWI & MCPC Co Ltd in Taninthayi and Myeik townships.
In his response, the Senior General said the sites for the construction of the fish auction market and industrial zone were chosen in his trip to Myeik in 2021. As the government has allowed the implementation of the project, first priority must be given to the construction of the fish auction market. As Taninthayi Region is not sufficient in rice, farmlands should not be used for the projects. Efforts are being made to ensure food sufficiency in the country. All businesspersons are urged to strive for increasing paddy per-acre yield in the Myeik region.
If foodstuff is sufficiently produced at home, import volume can be reduced and spending on foreign exchange as well.
Marine products must be produced as value-added products at home for export purposes.
The government arranges to generate hydropower for sufficient electrification in the Myeik region. Efforts must be made for generating electricity through solar power. It is necessary to efficiently utilize the advantages of the environment endowed by the nature to have a high yield and production of livestock breeding tasks. The Senior General stressed the need to modernize the Myeik port to the international level one.
Businesspersons in Myeik need to strive for the development of Myeik. Local businesspersons need to operate iron ore, coal and limestone production in Taninthayi Region in addition to other industries without emphasizing the fishery alone. Taninthayi Region is dubbed as an oil pot. Hence, businesspersons need to cooperate with authorities to increase the production rate of edible oil in the Taninthayi Region.
