Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing pays homage to Maha Muni Buddha Image in Kengtung of Shan State (East), Saturathta Thumingala Pagoda on Loimwe hill station, views development of Loimwe region

Chairman of the State Ad-ministration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, Council members Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun, U Sai Lone Hsai, U Saw Daniel and U Shwe Kyein, Adviser to the SAC Chairman Dr Daw Yin Yin Nwe, Union Ministers U Ko Ko, U Hla Moe, Dr Nyunt Pe and Dr Thet Khaing Win, Shan State Chief Minister Dr Kyaw Tun, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Moe Aung and wife, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Tun Aung and wife, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and their wives, Commander of Triangle Region Command Maj-Gen Myo Min Tun and officials, this morning paid homage to Maha Muni Buddha Image in Kengtung of Shan State (East) and Saturathta Thumingala Pagoda on Loimwe hill station and viewed development tasks in Loimwe region.

The Senior General and party under the auspices of Presiding Nayaka of Thiladhamma Kontha Tawya monastery (Wasi-peik) Sayadaw Bhaddanta Kovida paid homage to the Maha Muni Buddha Image of Kengtung and offered flowers, water and oil lights. Then, the Senior General presented Ks 77.1 million donated by well-wishers to Chairman of the pagoda board of trustees U Sai Haung Kham Nwam and party.

At Saturathta Thumingala Pagoda on Loimwe hill station, the pagoda board of trustees chairman and party welcomed the Senior General and party. The Senior General and party paid homage to the Pagoda and then donated flowers, water and oil lights to the pagoda and donated cash to the all-round renovation fund of the pagoda to mem-bers of the pagoda board of trustees. The Senior General signed the visitors’ book and paid homage to hill missionary Sayadaw Bhaddanta Vepulla and donated cash for nine pre-requisites and offerings. The Senior General and party went round the pagoda clockwise and instructed officials to maintain the pagoda for long term existence.

The Senior General and party arrived at historic 100-year chamber where they viewed the history of Loimwe city and significant places with documentary photos. After inspecting maintenance of the 104-year chamber for its sustainability and instructed officials to maintain utensils in the building in original works and left necessary instructions.

The Senior General and party inspected the dredging of Loimwe Lake, its maintenance and upgrade and storage of water in Kaunghmudaw Dam where they were conducted round by officials.

The Senior General stressed the need for constant maintenance as Loimwe  Lake is a natural gift for the Loimwe hill resort, conservation of the trees and forests in the watershed areas, measures of making the town beautiful as it is a resort and clearance of weeds for good ventilation and upgrading tasks along the uphill town road and attended to the needs.  

Next, the Senior General and party proceeded to the site chosen for a sky train that will run between the resort town and the Buddha Park in Pankwe Village. Officials gave their reports and the Senior General gave instructions on the implementation of the project by considering long-term convenience such as inclusion of car parking space and roads.

Then, the Senior General and party went to the site chosen for construction of a replica palace of Kengtung Haw Nan near Naungton Lake. After hearing reports, the Senior General attended to the needs. He then inspected the maintenance of Naungton Lake and upgrading of the circular road and gave instructions to officials on upgrading tasks for the people to be able to do physical exercise and enjoy rest and recreation on the circular road.
