Vice Chairman of State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice - Senior General Soe Win delivers speech at coordination meeting between Committee of Patrons and Leading Committee for Organizing Ceremony to Confer Religious Titles and Donate Rice 2022

The coordination meeting between the Committee of Patrons and the Leading Committee for Organizing the Ceremony to Confer Religious Titles and Donate Rice 2022 was held at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture in Nay Pyi Taw at 10 am this morning and Chairman of the Committee of Patrons Vice Chairman of State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice – Senior General Soe Win delivered a speech at the meeting.
Also present at the meeting were union ministers Lt-Gen Soe Htut and U Ko Ko, Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council Dr Maung Maung Naing , Commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command Maj-Gen Zaw Hein, deputy ministers Maj-Gen Soe Tint Naing, U Aye Tun and U Tun Ohn, member of Nay Pyi Taw Council U Myint Soe, permanent secretaries, directors general and officials.
First, the meeting began by paying homage and reciting Namotassa three times.
At the meeting, the Vice – Senior General said that the State Administration Council issued Notification No. (26/2022) on 26 January 2022 in order to organize the ceremony to confer religious titles and donate rice in Nay Pyi Taw in March 2022 and formed the committee of patrons and the leading committee to organize the ceremony.
It was learnt that the committee of patrons and the leading committee are taking necessary measures by forming working committees and sub-committees for respective sectors.
It can be assumed that the scheduled period of the ceremony to confer religious titles to be organized in Tabaung in 1383 ME on 2022 Calendar will be pleasant in terms of weather conditions and the ceremony, which will be organized in temperate weather conditions, has been organized since the times of ancient Myanmar kings as a great tradition.
As it is an annual ceremony to be organized at the national level, it is necessary for sub-committees and working committees to cooperate systematically.
It was learnt that religious titles will be conferred on 284 abbots including 272 abbots at home and 12 abbots abroad, 41 nuns, and 28 lay persons including 27 individuals at home and a woman abroad this year. Among the 28 lay persons, nine of them won the missionary titles and 19 of them won Sasana Nuggaha titles.
The woman abroad who won the missionary title called the Maha Suddhama Jotikadhaja.
Although the weather may be pleasant on the ceremony day, it is necessary to be cautious about the spread of COVID-19 and Omicron. Therefore, it is important to organize the ceremony in accordance with COVID-19 control and preventive measures.
Measures must be taken in accordance with COVID-19 restriction before, during and after the ceremony for the convenient accommodation and transportation for senior abbots, nuns, lay persons and supporting team, who will attend the ceremony, rice donations, offering meals and preparations of meals.
As the Ceremony to Confer Religious Titles and Donate Rice 2022 is a national level one, it must be organized accordingly and respective sub-committees and working committees are required to coordinate tasks properly to prevent negligence.
While the ceremony will be organized in accordance with the provisions of Section 361,362 and 363 of the Constitution 2008, it is also necessary to hold it on a grand scale in accordance with the latest restrictions of the Ministry of Health.
Then, Chair of Leading Committee Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko and Chairman of Working Committee Deputy Minister U Aye Tun reported to the Vice -Senior General on matters related to conferring religious titles and organizing the ceremony to confer religious titles and donate rice respectively.
Afterwards, officials subcommittee committees for reception and accommodation, invitation, preparing and organizing the ceremony, offering meals, transportation, documentary and information, healthcare, rice donation reported to the Vice - Senior General on measures being taken and future tasks. The Vice – Senior General attended to the needs.
After the Vice-Senior General made concluding remarks, the meeting concluded by reciting Buddha sasanam ciram tithatu three times.
