Discharge duties well with courage, determination, leadership qualities as true  military leaders

NAY PYI TAW June 8

Tatmadaw members are volunteers serving their duties with the love for the country. They have joined the Armed Forces of their own volition and without anyone’s recommendation. So, they must be proud of themselves.

As military leaders they must be bold and decisive, and act and give orders in accord with the leadership qualities.

They must always improve themselves through learning and training, said Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing during separate meetings with officer instructors of Defence Services (Army) Officers Training School (Hmawby), female cadets, trainees of female infantry platoon commander course and senior officers of local air force base at the respective venues this afternoon.

Also present at the meetings together with the Senior General were Commanderin-Chief (Navy) Admiral Moe Aung, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Tun Aung, senior military officers of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, Yangon Command Commander Maj-Gen Nyunt Win Swe, the OTS commandant, officer instructors, female officer trainees, cadets and senior officers of local air force base.

Servicewomen produced and assigned to the respective corps of Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) The Senior General said servicewomen have been discharging their assigned duties in Tatmadaw since 1958. For various reasons they were assigned only to the medical corps.

As the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, the Senior General made arrangements to appoint female military officers, and now they are servicing duties in Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) and the relevant corps. Tatmadaw is also bringing out female other ranks in its ongoing servicewomen production program.

Promote women’s role and female human resources Recent census shows that 53 percent of the country's population is women. But, their labour force cannot be utilized fully as the majority is dependents.

They can be found mostly in the education sector, offices/ departments, and garment industry related SMEs. Hence, women’s role should be taken into account in the human resources sector.

The country has an area of over 260,000 square miles and a population of over 55 million.

It has a favourable climate and large areas of croplands. It is suitable for region-wise agriculture and farming activities.

The country will develop if it can harness natural resources well. As it calls for human resources, a path must be paved for women's participation.

Although military life is even tough for men, servicewomen join the Tatmadaw of their own accord and are servicing duties with patriotism. So, they must value themselves. Once they join the Armed Forces they must adapt to military life.

They must dedicate their life to serve the national interest on the chosen path.

Efforts must be exerted by applying leadership disciplines As the trainees are more than 18 years old, they can made their own decisions. In discharging military duties after completion of the training, it is important for them to perform duties with the spirit of a soldier.

As officers are military leaders, it is vital for them to possess the spirit of bravery and decisiveness and to manage troops under their command in a fair manner unitedly in accordance with the characteristics of leadership. In selecting female officers, assessments at different levels to choose them based on their leadership qualities.

It is essential to study, practice and uphold leadership disciplines.

It is necessary to take the tasks being carried out seriously.

It is always important to abide by disciplines and keep high moral standards. As the trainees are university graduates and all have knowledge and qualifications for their academic subjects, it is essential for all to apply their knowledge and qualifications for progress in their lives. As duties are handed down from one shoulder to another in performing duties in the Tatmadaw, it is vital to hand down fine traditions of the Tatmadaw to new generation female personnel.

People in uniform are required to perform the responsibilities of the organization concerned dutifully. Wearing uniforms properly amounts to following disciplines. As one will have to perform different duties based on ranks, ages and levels of duties during the performance of duties, it is necessary to exert efforts to achieve one’s objectives.

Consistent selfdevelopment must be built by vitalizing strong morale As lectures of military science places emphasis on protecting one’s own live, it is vital to take the training seriously. During the performance of their duties, it is found that female personnel have strong morale and it is important to vitalize the morale.

It is also found that female personnels are able to perform their duties not only in the army but also in the navy and the air force. I would like to urge all to exert efforts to be good at military science taught at the training school and at advanced trainings at various levels in conformity with their ranks. In performing duties at a post where one is assigned, it is important for all to carry out duties properly. All are required to continuously build the progress of one’s own lives by studying literature that contributes to that end.

Important to perform duties for national development Development of the country calls for political stability and stability in terms of security.

The country is moving forward on the path of multi-party democracy desired by the people.

The Tatmadaw have to assume state responsibilities as required in successive eras. Now, the Tatmadaw is assuming state responsibilities in accordance with the constitution due to vote-rigging in the 2020 elections and failure of responsible authorities to take action against them in accordance with the law. The Tatmadaw is holding peace talks for internal peace and plans are underway to hold talks with remaining organizations. Holding elections requires peace in the entire country. Failure to hold elections in one area will lead to losses of rights of local residents.

Therefore, it is important to hold elections in the entire country in conformity with the term general election. Only then, can the multi-party democracy system desired by the people be implemented successfully and ways can be paved for the union system based on federalism and democracy. In conclusion, the Senior General urged all to perform duties responsibly in the spirit of soldiers to that end.

After the meeting, the Senior General coordinated issues reported by responsible officers.
