Inclusive participation in building peaceful Union, with Union spirit as the foundation

Chairman of State Administration Council Commanderin-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received a peace delegation led by Vice President of Arakan Liberation Party (ALP) Daw Saw Mra Razar Lin at the palour of Bayintnaung Villa here this morning and discussed matters relating to peace.

Also present at the meeting together with the Senior General were SAC members General Mya Tun Oo, Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun and Lt-Gen Yar Pyae. The ALP vice president was accompanied by Central Executive Committee members Khaing Soe Mra and Khaing Porlin.

At the meeting, the Senior General said ALP was the first organization that issued a response to the peace overtures to participate in the peace talks with the wish to serve the interest of the Union and region. He then explained the administrative systems of the governments of the successive periods and their weaknesses and advantages, Tatmadaw’s efforts to enable the public to march on the path to democracy in accord with their aspiration, the need to reflect the objective conditions of the country at the current peace talks, demands of EAOs, seeking a solution to really possible issues through detailed discussions, sending of the same invitation once again to NCA signatory and non-signatory EAOs that have not attended the peace dialogue yet to participate in the peace talks in the interest of the country and region, the adoption of multiparty democracy that meets the public aspirations, establishment of a Union based on democracy and federal system, the need to install multi-party democracy system through peaceful means despite the possible political disagreements, all-inclusiveness in setting up a peaceful Union based on Union spirit and national interest.

The ALP vice president and delegation supported and welcomed the Senior General’s peace overtures that extended in the interest of the nation and people. They then discussed ways to bring peace and stability and progress to Rakhine State, and views on the adoption of multi-party democracy, building of a Union based on democracy and federalism, and presented matters relating to regional development. Afterwards, views on peace, regional development were exchanged in a cordial atmosphere.

After the meeting, the Senior General presented commemorative gifts to the ALP vice president and delegation, who in return presented local products to him. A photo session then followed.

The delegation led by ALP vice president will continue peace talks with the Peace Talks Committee and the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiate Committee formed with SAC members.
