Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing inspects progress in building Maravijaya Buddha Image

Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing inspected the progress in building the Maravijaya Buddha Image, which will become the world’s largest stone Buddha statue, at Maravijaya Buddha Park, Dekkhinathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw, Union Territory this morning.
At the briefing hall, Lt-Gen Kyaw Swa Lin, Lt-Gen Nyo Saw and senior military officers of the Office of the Commanderin-Chief (Army) reported on the progress in realizing the points identified and directives given by the Senior General during inspection tours, progress and future task of the Buddha Image construction project, erection of a fountain and the pagodas to keep stone inscriptions, inscription of Pitaka treatises on marble tablets with the help of modern machines, arrangements to build a Nagayon Buddha Image in accord with the directives of Sayadaws, and the program to publish and donate Pitaka treatises.
In response, the Senior General said the Buddha Image construction project is located at a perfect place with a complete collection of pagodas, ordination halls, monasteries, lakes, bridges and canals.
The Nagayon Buddha Image must be erected in accord with the directives of Sayadaws and Pitaka treatises. The publication of Pitaka treatises should meet the international level. Announcements should be made for would-be donors of Pitaka treatises. Officials should systematically supervise the work of ensuring durability and weather resistance of marble tablet library pagodas.
Later, the Senior General inspected the roughly completed throne of the Buddha Image, use of modern stone carving machines, progress in building the Mingala Bridge in accord with the design of Yadanabon period, building the retaining walls, Thudhamma rest houses, Mucalinda Lake, and stone table libraries and looked into the requirements.
Till now, about 40 percent of the work of carrying marble stone parts of the Buddha Image, carving boulders with CNC machines, erecting marble table library pagodas, engraving stone tables with CNC machines, building Thudhamma rest houses, Sasana Beikman Aggadhipati Visongama Ordination Hall, Mucalinda Lake, fountain, Yadanabon period Mingala bridge and carrying out other related development activities.
