It is necessary to correctly understand the undertakings of the Tatmadaw for the national interests of the State due to political changes in successive eras
NAY PYI TAW July 4
Participation of the Tatmadaw in the leading role of national politics of the State is based on the need of the State, and it is necessary to correctly understand the undertakings of the Tatmadaw for the national interests of the State due to political changes in successive eras, said Chairman of the State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing in meeting with officers, other ranks and families of Pathein Station of South-West Command this morning.
The meeting was also attended by Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, wife of the Senior General, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Moe Aung and wife, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Tun Aung and wife, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, Commander of South-West Command Maj-Gen Aung Aung and officials.
Role of the Tatmadaw and national politics In his address, the Senior General said officers, other ranks and families need to correct understand that the Tatmadaw unavoidably took over the State responsibilities. According to the State history, geographical conditions and current situation, the Tatmadaw participates in the national cause of the State and the leading role of the national politics in accord with the constitution. It can be seen that politicians of the nation need political maturity and harmony. Different political systems can be seen in neighbouring countries. Ethnic armed organizations stand at some border areas. In addition to these basic factors, many other factors demand peace and stability based on political and security trends till today. To restore peace and stability, the country needs a firm institution.
Such institution is the Tatmadaw which will control the nation as a guardian of the State.
As the people did not prefer the single party governance and downtrend of economy in 1988, the country faced uprisings.
Taking an advantage over such situation, instigations of political organizations and foreign countries pushed the nation into the disintegration.
So, the Tatmadaw took the State responsibilities. The constitution was revoked and the country was governed under the military administration. As the Tatmadaw strictly carried out the tasks for ensuring peace and stability of the nation and unity of the Union, some persons brought political grudge and politically different opinions over the duties of the Tatmadaw.
There remains such grudge till today.
Enhancement of education The Tatmadaw drew the constitution (2008) for paving the multi-party democratic way for the people and approved it by holding the referendum. Some people have political awareness and some people are weak in political knowledge. Some unscrupulous persons instigate the persons with lesser political knowledge. Such weakness is related to the education standard of the citizens. Myanmar has been facing low qualification of education in successive eras.
People have lesser number of educated persons. Consequently, they have the narrow scope of knowledge.
According to the interim census in 2019, there are 34.29 million people above 18 with the 0.8 percent increase rate of population. The census showed 8.1 percent of the children above five who never attended the school, 12.8 million people above 25 years with lower basic primary education. Hence, it can be seen that Myanmar has much weakness in education sector. Only when they are educated
will they have a wider scope of knowledge. Health and fitness is of importance in increasing number of educated persons, so it is necessary to uplift education qualification in harmony with health and fitness of the entire national. It is necessary to take adequate time for the future of the nation by enhancing the education qualification of the entire nation which is basis for the country within at least five to 10 years with might and main.
Only when nation is peaceful and stable based on political and security measures will the nation develop Instigation of colonialists and different isms has been sparking the armed conflicts of ethnics since the time when the nation had regained independence.
Although the generations changed, there remain armed conflicts of ethnics till today. Only when these armed conflicts of ethnics cease can development tasks be undertaken. Only when the nation restores peace and stability based on political and security measures will the nation develop. Currently, just Tatmadaw is capable of controll-ing the State. The Tatmadaw sacrificed for some issues. The Tatmadaw is carrying out the tasks which should be done with the good concepts, and all Tatmadaw members are responsible for accomplishing these tasks.
Myanmar is on the track of democracy, and the Tatmadaw is taking State responsibilities in accord with the constitution (2008), and all tasks must be done under the law.
Practising genuine, disciplined democratic system It is necessary to modernize the nation in all sectors in conformity with neighbouring countries, regional countries, ASEAN States and other countries.
Hence, all tasks must be in line with the disciplines and laws. Administration tasks are undertaken under the law. As some countries interfere in internal affairs of the nation and some countries wishing to take political benefit commit wedging the instigations to cause the terror acts and conflicts.
Hence, the government controls the nation under the proper management. Efforts are being made for the nation to reach the political regular path, and national visions and political visions were adopted. In realizing the multiparty democratic system the people aspire, it must be genuine and disciplined one, and the act should not be done under the disguise of democracy musk. In building the Union based on democracy and federalism, the federalism means sharing of executive powers. As a significant fact, Myanmar has not been a single
union since the monarchical eras, and the country was established with all ethnic areas as a Union Republic. Hence, at a time when the British gave independence to Myanmar, it covered all the boundaries of the past eras. Histories and records showed that all ethnic people have been in unison since yore.
Only when the nation is peaceful will the Union based on development and democracy and federalism be built In undertaking the prosperity of the nation as a national vision, economic development is of importance, and it is necessary to boom the economy of the people. In the history, the country has political and economic histories. In around 1950, Korean wars broke out, and rice of Myanmar fetched good prices. Hence, the ruling party drew the Pyidawtha project with the slogan: “a car, a building and Ks-800 as monthly earnings for each person”. After the Korean war, price of rice plunged into the bottom, and armed conflicts of ethnics happened.
Due to low incomes, the project failed and difficulties hampered the local administration. Currently, although some basic situations are good, there remain armed conflicts of ethnics.
As all are to make efforts for ensuring prosperity of the nation, talks are held with the ethnic armed organizations for restoration of perpetual peace.
If peace talks achieve success, further development tasks for the nation can be done as well as the administration based on democracy and federalism can be implemented.
To ensure food sufficiency, Ayeyawady Region is successful in agriculture. As the farmlands are used in mixed and double cropping processes, increased production of agriculture sector needs mixed and double cropping process.
Agricultural tasks should be done with the modern techniques.
As the country can cultivate various kinds of crops, it is easy to do food sufficiency. It is necessary to encourage learning education for turning out the intellectuals and intelligentsia for improving the agricultural tasks.
Continuation of appropriate tasks in the leading role of national politics Myanmar is endowed with fertile soil and natural resources for its development, so, it is necessary to develop the nation by utilizing these natural resources. Expected ones, suitable ones and possible ones must be implemented for development of the nation.
And, job opportunities must be created for all persons. If the people try hard to correctly carry out the tasks with individual conscience, the country will have deserved progress within five years. The Tatmadaw leads the reform process of the nation, and the Tatmadaw will take a leading role of national politics for the interests of the nation and continues the appropriate tasks in a correct manner.
The Senior General explained the political changes, national visions and development tasks to the officers, other ranks and families with the background topics and asked their needs.
The Senior General then presented foodstuff for officers, other ranks and families through the commander, and the wife of the Senior General have cash assistance to the station maternal and child welfare association through the wife of the commander.
After the meeting, the Senior General cordially greeted the Tatmadaw members and families.
