Tatmadaw donates 2789.25-carat ruby to State

The Tatmadaw donated a 2789.25-carat ruby to the State at a ceremony held at the parlour of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief this afternoon.
Present were Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Vice Chairman of SAC Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win, SAC member Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun, Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo, Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Maung Maung Aye, Union Minister for Planning and Finance U Win Shein, Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi, Governor of Central Bank of Myanmar U Than Nyein and deputy ministers.
Speaking on the occasion, the Senior General said recently, a young person who loves the nation and Tatmadaw made an overture to donate a huge ruby his ancestors had kept, to the Tatmadaw. When the officials checked the ruby they found that it was a precious stone.
Hence, the Tatmadaw donated the ruby to the State. Likewise, a 496-carat ruby was accepted from the donor in 1990 during the administration of State Law and Order Restoration Council government. A 1907-carat ruby was also donated to the State in 2013. The current 2789.25-carat ruby is a huge gem stone. The ruby will be named State Ruby (SAC Ruby) in honour of the government.
It is a smooth type flawless ruby. It is a rare ruby found at Mogok gems land. Hence, the donor is worthy of an honour and a handsome reward.

The ruby ranks nine on the hardness scale and its density is 3.99. Its colour is red with purplish tint. Found at Mogok gems land, it is a unique stone as its size is large and it’s a rare type of ruby.
