Suitable federal system will be adopted in building Union based on democracy and federalism

Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received a peace delegation led by Chairman of Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) General Yawd Serk at the parlour of Bayintnaung Villa here this morning and discussed matters relating to peace.
Also present at the meeting together with the Senior General were SAC Vice Chairman Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, SAC members General Mya Tun Oo, Lt-Gen Moe Myint Tun and Lt-Gen Yar Pyae. The RCSS chairman was accompanied by Secretary (1) Sao Sai Ngin and Central Executive Sao Saung Han.
The Senior General explained the positive results that were achieved at the first meeting with RCSS which was the first group to hold peace talks when SAC started new steps while serving the State duties, the adoption of genuine and disciplined democracy, efforts to realize the political goal – a Union based on democracy and federalism, the continuation of the peace process based on 2008 Constitution and Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA).
The RCSS chair and party presented their views on establishment of a Union based on democracy and federalism, peace process, regional development, adoption of federal system, solving of political problems by political means, socio-economic development of the people, termination of armed conflicts and terrorism and future programs.
In response, the Senior General discussed geographical importance of the country, foreign affairs policy that is suitable to the country, the need to adopt and practice a federal system that in accord with the country’s geographical condition, national characteristics and culture amidst the many global countries that practice democracy and federalism, the essentiality of human resources with high level of intellectual and technological knowledge in exercising the disciplined democracy, the education promotion activities as the pace of development depends on the number of educated persons, and practical undertakings for development of ethnic areas, and cordially exchanged views on peace and regional development undertakings.
After the meeting, the Senior General and the delegation members exchanged commemorative gifts. A photo session then followed.
The delegation led by RCSS chairman will continue peace talks with the Peace Talks Committee and the National Solidarity and Peace-making Negotiate Committee formed with SAC members.
