First liver transplant operation of Tatmadaw in commemoration of 75th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee of Directorate of Medical Services proceeds for second day

The second day of the first liver transplant operation of the Tatmadaw performed in commemoration of the 75th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee of the Directorate of Medical Services, which falls on 1 October, 2022, proceeded for the second day at the intensive care centre unit of the Defence Services Hospital (1000-bed) in Mingaladon Township in Yangon Region today.
During the liver transplant operation, Daw Khin Thuzar Myo and liver donor Daw Kaythi Myint underwent surgery.
In performing the liver transplant operation, the removal of part of the liver of the donor started at 8 am and it took about 12 hours to perform the operation. Both the donor and the recipient are doing well and relevant physicians, medical officers, nurses and technicians were giving required treatments to them at the intensive care unit. The liver transplant operation was observed by
Director Maj- Gen Ko Ko Lwin of the Directorate of Medical Services of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and officials of Gastrointestinal and Liver Disease Foundation (Myanmar).
The donor and recipient who underwent liver transplant operation on the first day are doing well and physicians, medical officers and nurses are giving necessary treatments to them.
