A joint force of the KNLA Brigade (1) and NUG- and CRPHproxy terrorists so-called the PDF brutally attacked the Kinmonchaung mountain passenger station of the Kyaikhtiyo (Golden Rock) Pagoda in Kyaikhto in Mon State with heavy weapons and small arms without any provocation this morning, leaving three pilgrims dead and 19 others injured.

In the incident, the pagoda was crowded with members of the public who were making pilgrimage peacefully to the pagoda during the Thadingyut festival, when the joint force of the KNLA Brigade(1) and NUGand CRPH-proxy terrorists socalled the PDF arrived at the passenger station on a vehicle from the direction of Saung Naing Gyi Village at about 10.25 am and brutally attacked the mountain passenger station with heavy weapons and small arms without any provocation, before retreating to the direction of the village. During their attack against innocent pilgrims of the public, three women were killed and 19 others including nine men and 10 women were injured.

Security forces provided necessary emergency treatments to the injured and brought them to the People’s Hospital in Kyaikhto. Security forces are chasing the terrorists on the run to take effective action against them.

The NUG and the CRHP have speeded up their sabotage acts out of their abject antipathy towards members of the public who were making pilgrims at pagodas and monasteries or relaxing at resorts in the entire country during the Thadingyut.

In the incident, the joint force of KNLA Brigade (1) and terrorists so-called the PDF brutally terrorized a non-military target, a religious precinct, where members of the public were making pilgrimage to gain merit and the attack amounts to war crimes under Geneva Convention and international laws. Action will be taken against them under the counterterrorism law, the penal code and relevant existing laws and the security forces will invoke counter-terrorism action to take effective action against

them. Members of the public are urged to report the information about the activities of terrorists to security forces secretly.
