21st Myanmar Traditional Medicine Practitioners’ Conference and Seminar on Myanmar traditional medicine science opened

    The opening ceremony of the 21st Myanmar Traditional Medicine Practitioners’ Conference and the Seminar on Myanmar traditional medicine science took place at Myanmar International Convention Centre (2) here this morning.

Present on the occasion were Patron of the Leading Committee on Organizing the 21st Myanmar Traditional Medicine Practitioners’ Conference and the Seminar on Myanmar traditional medicine science Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win, SAC members, Union ministers, the Nay Pyi Taw Command commander, deputy ministers, Nay Pyi Taw Council members, heads of department, ambassadors from the foreign embassies in Myanmar, resident representatives from UN agencies, members of NGOs, the Traditional Medicine Council and Myanmar Traditional Medicine Practitioner Association, traditional medicine practitioner delegates from across the country, traditional medicine science advisers, traditional medicine manufacturers and medical equipment entrepreneurs.

First, SAC members Daw Aye Nu Sein and U Moung Har, Union Minister Dr Thet Khaing Win, Director General Dr Su Su Dway of the Traditional Medicine Department and veteran traditional medicine practitioner U Thein Nyunt formally opened the ceremony.

Next, the Vice-Senior General pressed the button to unveil the signboard of the seminar.

Then, the ceremony continued and the honorary video message of Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing was shown.

Afterwards, the Vice-Senior General delivered a speech.

He said Myanmar traditional medicine science is a national medical branch that has existed as Myanmar’s cultural heritage for successive eras. Myanmar’s traditional medicine science has been safeguarded and passed down throughout the successive periods of Tagaung, Sri Ksetra, Bagan, Pinya and Inwa and Konbaung based on four Nayas: Desana, Bethitsa, Weitzadara and Natkhatta, the tap root of Myanmar traditional medicine, and medical papers and treatises.

Then, the Vice-Senior General spoke of the state of holding the Myanmar traditional practitioners’ conference and seminar at the State level from 2000 to date, more development of traditional medicine science through reading papers on traditional medicine research works at Myanmar health research conferences and paper reading sessions, goals of holding the 21st Myanmar Traditional Practitioners’ Conference and Seminar on Myanmar Traditional Medicine Science, the state of negotiation and discussion on proposals at the conference and seminar, measures to be taken for development of traditional medicine through systematic research works to enable new generation traditional practitioners to bring the traditional medicine proudly to all, the state of Myanmar traditional medicine industry being helpful to GDP growth of the nation as part of MSMEs of the State, and the State’s assistance and encouragement to fulfill the needs of Myanmar traditional medicine industry as much as it can.

Afterwards, a documentary video on measures taken by the Traditional Medicine Department was shown.

The Vice-Senior General and party had a group record photo taken with traditional medicine practitioners, traditional medicine manufacturers, representatives and officials.

After the opening ceremony, the Vice-Senior General, along with the officials, took a tour of the exhibits of traditional medicine from regions and states.

Later, the conference and seminar went on with Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win led as the head of the conference.

In the evening, the Vice-Senior General hosted dinner in honour of the representatives participating in the conference. At the dinner, staff of the Department of Fine Arts, Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture, presented a performance of traditional dances and songs. After the dinner, the Vice-Senior General presented gifts to the staff.
