Message delivered by State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Senior General Thadoe Maha Thray Sithu Thadoe Thiri Thudhamma Min Aung Hlaing to ceremony to mark 75th Anniversary (Diamond Jubilee) Independence Day
Esteemed ethnic national people, I respectfully extend greetings to all ethnic national people residing throughout the country to enjoy all auspiciousness and physical and mental wellbeing on the significant occasion of the 75th Anniversary (Diamond Jubilee) Independence Day which occurs on 4 January 2023.
All ethnic national people of Myanmar have been standing tall in unison together as a sovereign country with its own monarch across the world by preserving its own culture and customs for many years. However, as colonialists occupied Myanmar in three aggressive wars in the late 19th century, the country lost its independence and sovereignty in 1885.
Although ethnic national people misunderstood among them their slavery life due to suppression and divideandrule administration in various ways and means, all ethnic people born within the Union with the Union spirit under the leadership of ethnic leaders unitedly fought against the colonialists and Fascists with sacrifices. As a result, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar regained independence and sovereignty on 4 January 1948, and this year’s occasion takes place on the 75th Anniversary (Diamond Jubilee) occasion.
Although independence can lose in a few days or months, it is necessary to take many years for regaining independence.
Forefathers sacrificed life and blood for more than 100 years to regain the independence of Myanmar but the devil legacy of colonialism triggered armed conflicts among ethnic nations and harmed the peace of the Union.
In order to ensure the perpetuity of the regained independence, the entire ethnic national people need to take great care so as to prevent instigations and pressure committed by internal and external destructive elements with the national cause. Moreover, the entire ethnic national people are to keep Our Three Main National Causes in their soul in striving for building the Union based on the genuine, disciplinedflourishing democratic system and federalism for its perpetuity as long the world.
Esteemed ethnic national people, As the energy for humans to be able to do daily processes can be taken from food, food security is the most crucial and primary requisite for all human beings. If people can sufficiently buy healthy food at fair prices in a country, such a country can be defined as one with food sufficiency.
The global population amounted to eight billion at the end of 2022. So, the demand for rations will increase in conformity with the growing population.
As Myanmar has been sufficient in food at home in successive eras and it exported surplus agricultural and livestock products to neighbouring countries and global countries, it is necessary to strive for Myanmar to become a country to be able to give food security to global countries.
It must establish a modernized nation by promoting education as the education sector plays a key role in the improvement of the human resources of a nation.
The government also makes efforts for every schoolage child to have a learning opportunity for attending the KG+9 of middle school education.
More than 70 percent of the country’s population is residing in rural areas and so agriculture, livestock, breeding and technological skills will be taught at the high schools in 50 districts in the coming academic year to uplift the socio-economic status. Besides this plan, arrangements are underway to expand the schools that offer vocational skills aiming to support the MSMEs.
Myanmar is rich in land, water and natural resources and it should try to develop human resources. For the economic growth of the country, it should encourage the manufacturing industries to produce a certain local product and try hard to be an exporter producing the commodities to meet the country’s needs instead of being an Importer of basic commodities, the local demand. It should conduct the natural environmental conservation procedures systematically after the natural resources are explored. Only then, it will claim Sustainable Development.
Since Myanmar gained its independence,it passed years with various political systems, and it reaches its 75th Anniversary (Diamond Jubilee) Independence Day on 4 January 2023.
Praising a person who should be honoured and showing gratitude to a person who helps is a good deed (Mingala), and so, honouring should be carried out as a tradition. Despite the different opinions, beliefs and stances within 75 years, the people who work for the interests of the country are presented honorary titles, medals and religious titles regardless of the persons they are.
Peace talks are being held with ethnic armed organizations according to NCA to ensure perpetual peace.
It also heads to a multi-party democratic election that is fair and just to establish a Union based on democracy and federalism that the entire people truly desire.
The two national tasks and two political tasks of the country will be implemented successfully upholding the Union spirit based on the friendship and unity of ethnic national people overcoming the challenges to grab the motto: “Keep Moving Forward to Achieve Our Goal.”
I send this message urging the entire ethnic national people to participate in implementing the Five National Objectives of the 75th Anniversary (Diamond Jubilee) Independence Day with firm stances for the enduring existence of the country.
