8th High Level Committee Meeting between Myanmar and Thai armed forces held

Myanmar hosted the 8th High Level Committee Meeting between Myanmar and Thai armed forces at Jasmine Ngapali Resort in Thandwe, Rakhine State, this morning.
Before the meeting, Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and Chief of Defence Forces of Royal Thai Armed Forces General Chalermphon Srisawasdi help a separate meeting and discussed further tasks between the two armed forces.
Afterwards, the 8th High Level Committee Meeting commenced.
Present together with Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, General Chalermphon Srisawasdi were Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Maung Maung Aye, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Moe Aung, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Tun Aung, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, senior officers of Royal Thai Armed Forces, military attaches of the two countries and officials.
In his address, the Senior General, the Joint Chairman of Myanmar of the meeting, expressed pleasure for Myanmar Tatmadaw to host the 8th High Level Committee Meeting. He said as the neighbours, the two countries have established firm and cordial relations since ancient times. Holding of the highlevel meetings began in 2013 to cement relations between the two armed forces. The annually held visit exchange programs between senior military officials of both countries, (Army, Navy and Air) sector wise meetings, border committee meetings and sports meets could not be organized during the period 2020 and 2021 beca-

He expressed belief that trust, mutual understanding and friendship between the two militaries will be enhanced through the current meeting. The Senior General firmly said Tatmadaw will strive to further improve the military relations between the two countries without losing any momentum.
In his address, the Meeting Joint Chairman of Thailand General Chalermphon Srisawasdi expressed special thanks to the Tatmadaw for the warm welcome extended to him and his delegation. He said although the meetings were adjourned during the two year period due to COVID-19, he always prioritized the cooperation programs with Tatmadaw. There were bilateral cooperation in the medical sector during the period infection broke out.
He expressed belief that ways and means to launch bilateral military cooperate can be adopted, border troops will be able to continue their cooperation in accord with the adopted means and ways, and life and property security and development of peoples on both sides of the border can be ensured through the meetings.
He said he will always stand by and strive for further improvement of the existing Thai-Myanmar relations. He will strive to maintain Myanmar and Thai militaries as perpetual good friends.
The Senior General and the Thai General approved the meeting agenda.
Lt-Gen Khin Hlaing of Office of Commander-in-Chief (Army) read out the results of 34th Myanmar-Thai Border Committee Meeting, and the master of ceremonies explained the talks on military cooperation between the two countries.
Chief of Military Security Affairs Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo discussed the topics of 8th High Level Committee Meeting.
The Senior General and the Thai General signed the accords of the meeting. They then exchanged commemorative badges. The Thai General and the Senior General gave concluding remarks.
The Senior General and the Thai General cordially greeted the attendees and posed for documentary photo.
At the meeting, constructive talks were centred on friendship between the two countries, peace and stability of the peoples of the common border, disaster prevention and defence matters.
After the meeting, the Senior General and wife hosted luncheon for the delegation led by the Thai General and wife.
