Making an honorary speech Speaking on the occasion, the Senior General said that the society is in progress on a daily basis. Sharing information with each other in the society is a part of the public relations measures. Public relations measures comprise various kinds of relations such as mass communications and environmental relations. In so doing, international community applies the media relations among other public relations on a wider scale It is important that executive, judicial, legislative and media estates must be in harmony in the nation-building endeavours.
Media is an estate to adjust three estates to be righteous.
Currently, media can bring the people’s voice in a clear manner.
Moreover, media plays a key role in releasing undertakings of all government organizations to the people. In order to be oneness of the Tatmadaw with the people and to improve military civilian relations, the Directorate of Public Relations and Psychological Warfare was initially set up as the education section in 1947. The section was named severally, and it was renamed as the Directorate of Public Relations and Psychological Warfare. Myawady TV was launched as a Tatmadaw media on the Golden Jubilee (50th Anniversary) Armed Forces Day with the aim of implementing the plans to inform, educate, entertain and organize to be oneness of the Tatmadaw with the people. Currently, it reached 28th anniversary beyond the silver jubilee.
The MWD TV always exerts efforts to broadcast programs from the national perspective to instill true information and ideologies and to revitalize the union spirit in the people and has become a major and active media of the Tatmadaw.
In performing duties to inform, the MWD TV broadcasts policies and information that should be made known not only to the families of the Tatmadaw but also to the public in real time.
As duties to educate require direct engagement with the people, the MWD TV successfully performs duties to educate and to instill knowledge. As for duties to entertain, the MWD TV presents various forms of performing arts, music, dances to entertain the public.
As for organizing duties, it is necessary to take measures to consolidate the unity of the people with firm belief and conviction in the national interests of the country. The nature of mobilization implies persuading other people to do what one says out of their own volition. Measures are being taken to encourage the people to unitedly implement the national interests of the country or "Our Three Main National Causes."
To broadcast programs to the entire country, No 2 Tatmadaw TV Broadcasting Unit (Nay Pyi Taw) was established and inaugurated by myself on 26 March 2012. Since its establishment, the MWD TV has been able to serve at its best as a bridge between the Tatmadaw and the people.
Broadcast its programs, it used the analog system and upgrading tasks were carried out to be abreast of the times to replace the analog system with the digital system, which was again replaced with the standard definition (SD) system. Since the 75th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee Armed Forces Day, the MWD TV has been broadcasting programs through the high definition (HD) system. Broadcasting television programs calls for more thorough preparations than other forms of the media. No one cannot produce a program by oneself and as it is necessary to combine capabilities of human resources, arts and technologies perfectly, a good program that will be enjoyed by the people can be produced with concerted efforts of all.
It is the concerted efforts of all staff and officers that have elevated the MWD TV into a more capable media giant phase by phase in successive eras. Television broadcasting is a media platform that can attract the mind of the people by airing knowledgeable and artistic information by using images and sounds. Airing radio programs places emphasis on sounds and broadcasting television needs to rely both on images and sounds. Therefore, it is necessary to be more cautious about details like tones of voices, gestures, appropriate dresses and personality. Its ability to attract the mind of the people and to instill motivation into them is higher. Instilling knowledge into the people and preventing youths who will perform duties for the country and shape the country in the future by take wrong path and nurturing them to become educated citizens of the country depend not only on parents and teachers but also on broadcasting programs that instill knowledge and wisdom in them constantly. While it is necessary to broadcast programs that keep abreast of the times, they are also required to be in accord with one of the four social objectives - To respect and promote the customs and traditions of all national peoples and preserve and safeguard their faiths, culture and national characteristics based on national spirit.
It is a historic feat of Myawady TV to have broadcast the 27th SEA GAMES hosted in Myanmar in 2013, the 23rd ASEAN Army Rifle Meet and the ceremony to build and keep the Maravijaya Buddha Image. The COVID-19 pandemic could have been overcome thanks to the dos and don’ts aired by Myawady TV. Digital TV retransmission stations were built in 35 cities and big towns covering 145 townships for public view.
During the time when the SAC is assuming State duties in line with the 2008 constitution, unethical media outlets at home and abroad are resorting to various to attack. Since taking office, daily newspapers, Myawady TV and state owned news agencies have been publishing and broadcasting in the national interests. Nation building, national and religious welfare tasks and offering of peace talks are being published and broadcast in the newspaper, TV and Radio station under the Myawady Media Group.
And every readers and viewers know that.
Information flow in the 21st century is fast and changing.
So it is necessary to catch up with them to become a strong media. Some media outlets are unethically reporting with bias and inequality. They are attempting to harm the Tatmadaw’s image and public relations.
The State-run and Tatmadawowned media must respond to such false accusations. It is also necessary to take the strength of scrupulous media outlets at home and abroad.
The Tatmadaw itself has been working on State building tasks in the national and public interests in successive eras without urging or persuasion from others. Representing the Tatmadaw, Myawady TV, as the fourth estate, has been shouldering its duties dutifully in successive eras. I fully believe that it will continue to maintain such fine history and traditions.
Myawady TV, Myawady Publishing House, Myawady newspaper, Yadanabon newspaper and Thazin broadcasting station that are carrying out media tasks representing the Tatmadaw need to publish and broadcast news quickly and correctly and try to become the media with focus on journalistic ethics.
They also need to make creations and innovations in line with the modern age. In accord with the objectives: to inform, educate, entertain and organize, they must try to become the media on which the State and the people can rely in the tasks of nation building by bridging the Tatmadaw and the people.
Myawady TV needs to try to serve more dutifully for many years to come in the interests of the State, the people and the Tatmadaw.
