SAC Vice Chairman Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win addresses coordination meeting between Steering Committee to hold Myanmar National Education Conference 2023 and work committee

    Steering Committee to hold Myanmar National EducationConference 2023  and work committee held a coordination meeting at State Administration Council Chairman’s Office here this afternoon addressed by Chairman of the committee Vice Chairman of State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win.

Also present were union ministers, the Nay Pyi Taw Council chairman, deputy ministers and officials.

The Vice-Senior General said the meeting aimed at enabling all related ministries to jointly hold the conference which is the first one of its kind during the administration of SAC. Hence, related ministries should try to hold a flawless conference through all inclusiveness.

The national level conference will be held in Nay Pyi Taw in early May. Like all other international conferences, its opening ceremony will include Keynote Address and Panel Discussions and its Parallel Session will be held together with Themes, Subthemes, Presentations, Q&A and suggestion sessions.

Necessary preparations should be made to hold the conference in May. Topics of the discussions should be finalized through coordination in accord with the directives of the Prime Minister.

“Improvement of Myanmar’s future education” will be the theme of the conference. Hence discussions should be centred on the betterment of the country’s future education. Since his assumption of duties, the SAC Chairman Prime Minister has given encouragement to the education sector.

The Conference will be held in accord with the point –- promote multiple education systems in order to produce the necessary human resources for building a modern developed democratic nation -- of the 12 objectives.

SAC has increased budget allotment for the education sector and provided assistance for teachers. It allowed Ks-110 billion for BE and over Ks-110 billion for RE during the sixmonth period in 2021-2022. In 2022-2023, it allowed Ks-210 billion for BE and Ks-220 billion for RE. SAC opened Nay Pyi Taw State Academy on 9 November 2022. It is providing cash assistance to teachers pursuing further studies, administration expense for schools and refresher courses for teachers.

The objectives and headlines and topics to be discussed have been set for the National Education Conference 2023. The first point is to find a remedial measure for a small number of transition grades. The second is that regions and states are to carry out implementation of KG+9 education project as a national task. The third point is to teach subjects on agriculture and livestock farming and mechanism at the classes of Grade 10, Grade 11 and Grade 12 to ensure basic vocational education and knowledge. The fourth point is to produce human resources through effectively teaching the subjects and skills that will practically be useful at work, at institutes of agriculture, livestock and industrial science.

The fifth is to teach advanced subjects for academic skill in the surroundings helpful to the society. The sixth point is to produce arts and science experts with the aim of finding a solution on how the youth will have patriotism. Ways to successfully implement those guidelines, overcome the challenges to be faced and have future tasks are to be discussed in the forthcoming conference.

We have already had the 30-year longterm plan of Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan.

Based on the guidelines by the Prime Minister, it is to discuss how to implement short and mediumterm projects at the conference. I fully believe that the good outcomes will come out at the conference for the future youths of the nation.

It is to hold discussion to make plans in order to ensure that all school age children could go to school and finish KG+9 Grade at least and that there will be a small number of school leaving children until zero number of them.

There is access to practically working fields through learning vocational subjects on agriculture, livestock and mechanism after KG+9 education and then to higher education as well. Without heading for the practically working fields, there are significant accesses to further studies in higher education. It is to be targeted to find ways to ensure plenty of educated people.

At the conference, it is to cooperatively discuss matters for ensuring good education results and good education for future generations for short and mediumplans. Paper compiling experts are to make papers helpful to improve Myanmar’s education. In successive eras of governments, plans were made in various ways to ensure improvement of Myanmar’s education. In the time of the State Administration Council, it must be a good, successful education that helps the education of the youths, who will be transferred responsibilities, improve. To achieve this, such a conference will be held. All are urged to work together to successfully hold the State level conference.

Then, Deputy Minister for Education Dr Moe Zaw Tun briefed on forming subcommittees and their tasks, headlines to be discussed and arrangements on holding the conference.

Afterwards, union ministers, the Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, deputy ministers and officials presented suggestions on a sector wise basis to successfully hold the conference.

The Vice-Senior General made coordination on the suggestions and gave concluding remarks.
