Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing inspects construction of Maravijaya Buddha Image

Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by officials, inspected construction of Maravijaya Buddha Image being built in the Maravijaya Buddha Park in Dekkhinathiri Township in Nay Pyi Taw in the union territory this morning.
First, at the briefing hall, the Senior General heard reports on implementation of instructions given by the Senior General during inspection tours on 5 and 22 April, carving the Buddha image and arrangements for obeisance, making handicraft designs, measures taken to depict a sacred hair between the eyebrows of the Buddha image and efforts to describe the measurements and weight of the Buddha image that can read through QR Code presented by Lt-Gen Kan Myint Than of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and on construction of religious edifices, the fountain square, the platform, the Gandha Kuti buildings, the Mucalinda Lake and the Nagayon pagoda, the Sasana Beikman and stupas for stone inscriptions and archways in the Buddha park and progress of work presented by Quarter Master General Lt-Gen Kyaw Swar Lin.
Then, the Senior General and party inspected the progress of work in carving the Buddha image and construction of the religious flagmast, Gandha Kuti buildings, prayer halls, the fountain square, archways, stupas for stone inscriptions and the Mucalinda Lake and attended to needs reported by officials.
Maravijaya Buddha Image is being constructed with four aims of highlighting to the world that Theravada Buddhism is firmly flourishing in Myanmar, making Myanmar the epicenter of Theravada Buddhism, ensuring peace and tranquility in the country and promoting peace and prosperity in the world. The sacred marble pieces for the Buddha image was conveyed from the marble hill in Madaya Township to Hsimeekhon Jetty via waterway and then conveyed on modular trailers along Mandalay-Yangon Expressway to Nay Pyi Taw by overcoming many challenges.
Then, the sacred marble pieces were carved by technicians by using high tech CNC machines and modern equipment day and night.
The Buddha Image, which is made up of sections 1, 2 and 3, was conveyed on the jewelled throne from the auspicious time on 26 January to 31 January.
The auspicious ceremonies to enshrine precious gems and religious objects donated by well wishers all over the entire country led by the Senior General into the reliquaries at centre points on the throne were successfully held on 27 January and on 10 February.
Well-wishers across the country who donated precious gems and religious objects shared merit at the ceremonies. The auspicious ceremony to convey the fourth section of the Buddha image onto the throne on 11 February and 95 percent of the carving tasks have been completed.
At the same time, religious edifices are being constructed in the Buddha Park and stone inscriptions of Buddhist canons in conformity with the Sixth Synod in Pali and Romanized language are being erected under the guidance of venerable Sayadaws to enable the world to study Buddhist cannons.
Marble slabs which have been inscribed with Tripitaka Buddhist canons delivered by the Buddha are being erected to enable devotees to study them while making pilgrimage to the Buddha image. Moreover, measures are being taken to publish Buddhist cannons in Pali and Romanized language to distribute them to monasteries across the world. At present, 82 percent of the construction tasks of religious edifices and the park have been completed.
At nights, stupas for stone inscription, fountain squares, the main platform of the Buddha image, prayer halls and archways in the park are decorated with lights.
