The Senior General said youths are the jewels who will shoulder the State duties in the future. They are swift, alert, inquisitive, adventurous, brave, and creative. Students possess those capabilities as they are the youth whose age is between juvenile and adult. They also have the goal, vision and the driving force to reach the aspired goal of theirs and their family, country and race.
As students have the said qualities, they will surely achieve success in life if they are cooperative, helpful, sympathetic, friendly, and courteous, have mutual respect for the society and apply their wisdom and knowledge.
Nurturing the youths to become human resources who are healthy, industrious, ethical, decent, polite, and patriotic and who possess intelligence and academic and technological knowledge amounts to laying a foundation for the future country.
The outstanding student project for academic year 2022-2023 was implemented for the emergence of student youths who are healthy, decent, excellent, good citizens who have greater interest in practical education activities and who can serve the national interest, and nurturing other youths to follow the example of outstanding students.
The outstanding student project was initiated in 1964 and it could mark the 25th Anniversary (Silver Jubilee) Outstanding Student project in 1988. It was suspended from 1988 but it re-
sumed as the allround outstanding youth project in 2013. In 2018, the project was renamed as the outstanding student project. So, it will turn 60 years in coming year.
The project was suspended again as from 2019-2020 academic year due to infection of COVID-19, and it resumed in 2022-2023 academic year.
This academic year, a total of 160 students in the eighth standard, 160 in the tenth standard and 158 in the 11th standard, totalling 478 were turned and they will be sent to outstanding student camps in Bagan, Taunggyi and Ngwehsaung.
Excursions in groups will reflect fraternity among the outstanding students from regions and states and cooperation among them. Moreover, they will exchange knowledge from relevant regions as well as traditional culture and customs so as to forge the spirit adoring the State and the nationality.
It is important to nurture new generation youths to become outstanding and sharpening students. Moreover, deserved chances must be created for the students to have politeness, social conscience, harmony in the society, cooperation, leadership as well as good followers. They have to be nurtured to know duty and entitlements, nature of good and bad mans, following the nature of wise men with high morality. These are compulsory tasks for the State.
Hence, the government is encouraging the outstanding student project as well as the youth programmes in order to nurture them to become good leaders who will lead the State future and relate to the people, serve the public interests and become new generations with physical and mental morality.
If so, the students will be outstanding as contributing to the future of the State. The people expect the outstanding students to become good State leaders for the future nation.
The government emphasizes emergence of the intellectuals and intelligentsia while implementing the learning of schoolage children and completion of all students in the KG + 9 scheme in minimum. As from 2023-2024 academic year, the students who have completed the middle school education will have chance to attend 51 industrial, agricultural and livestock breeding affiliated high schools in 50 districts. The Ministry of Agriculture, Live stock and Irrigation cooperates with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Technology in implementing the project.
After completing middle school education, young students themselves can have further chances to study four branches namely high school education, technology, agriculture and livestock breeding. And they will surely have job opportunities. Outstanding students can continue studying higher education branches they are interested in at respective institutes, colleges and universities. Therefore, they are urged to study hard for their quality of life.
The State is also making arrangements to send brilliant students abroad for further studies. So, the students for their part need to work hard in the education field in the interest of the State.
They need to stay away from and know the danger of drug abuse that can adversely affect their health and progress. Such various kinds of danger must be avoided through wisdom. During their free time, they need to try to improve their lives, use the internet efficiently, read a lot and take care of their health.
For the success and long-term existence of a country, national economic growth as well as the good morality and character of its citizens is very important. The citizens must build up their nation with their knowledge and skills for its longerm existence. Moreover, the spirit of cherishing the State and people, valuing their character, working hard, making innovations and using their initiative is especially necessary.
As they had such an opportunity to attend this event thanks to their good discipline and character under the patronage of their parents and teachers, they are urged to continue working hard.
In accord with the saying “Discipline is a human value” they also need to follow the motto “Discipline starts with school” in their life journey to come so that they can become good citizens.
In school life, students must try to become good pupils. Likewise, they need to try to become good citizens in order that they are able to lead the country.
You, the young students, need to be full of good basics to successfully move forward in life. Those good basics are the morals to be exercised in the youth. Those morals that you have already known are: “the five morals of children” and “the five morals of pupils”. If you exercise those morals in your youth, you will definitely become good citizens who are reliable for the nation.
Outstanding students are seriously urged to make best efforts to be able to faithfully get transferred responsibilities for the interests of themselves, their schools, their surroundings and their nation.
The Outstanding Project has been developed for decades and it is an education project with a good history and has produced good citizens for the nation. To meet one of the social objectives of the State: “To promote multiple education systems in order to produce the necessary human resources for building a modern developed democratic nation,” it is to keep making efforts to constantly develop new gen-erations for the future. I wish all of you outstanding students happy and healthy on the ex-cursion trip and good sons and daughters who contribute to the nation.
Afterwards, on behalf of the outstanding students, Ma Chu Myat Sandi who is at Grade-11 and has been selected twice as outstanding student from No.5 Nay Pyi Taw Basic Education High School, expressed words of thanks in return.
Later, the Senior General, the attendees and outstanding students had a record photo taken. The Senior General co-rdially greeted the outstanding students.
