Well wishers make cash donations for relief, rescue and rehabilitation operations in storm hit areas

Cash donations were made to carry out relief, rescue and rehabilitation operations at the areas hit by Mocha, a severe cyclonic storm, at Zeyathiri Beikman, Yangon Command, this morning attended by Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
Present together with the Senior General were SAC Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo, union ministers, U Aung Naing Oo, Dr Kan Zaw, U Maung Maung Ohn and U Ko Ko, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Moe Aung, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Tun Aung, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the Yangon Command commander, officials and well wishers.
As regards the relief, rescue and rehabilitation task at the storm hit areas, the Senior General expressed pleasure for the ardent contributions made for the state sponsored relief, rescue and rehabilitation operations carried out in Mocha hit Rakhine State and storm hit parts of China State, Sagaing Region and Ayeyawady Region.
He said natural disaster is an unforeseen event, but its effects can be reduced to a certain degree through good preparations and timely response.
Thanks to the weather reports, the likelihood of a storm could be noticed about nine days in advance. A storm was brewing in South China Sea and another in Indian Ocean. Officials submitted a report that if the two merged into a single storm, it might come to Myanmar. Hence, emergency meetings were held to take preparatory measures.
Myanmar faced less destruction as the storm brewing in South China Sea weakened and vanished. Chairman of Natural Disaster Management Committee SAC Vice Chairman Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win was assigned with the task to carry out preventive measures. Storm warnings were issued, preparatory measures taken and emergency evacuation plans set up as soon as officials reported that the storm might hit Myanmar.
Hence, lives could be saved.
According to the latest reports, only five persons perished in the storm. Thanks to the preparations, the country could overcome the severe cyclonic storm with the least number of casualties.
The ceremony was held as there were enthusiastic wellwishers.
The Senior General expressed belief in the saying which goes “Strength of the nation lies within” and thanked the donors for their ardent participation. Officials of AHA Center are now in Myanmar to provide necessary assistance.
There are also countries that offered help.
Well-wishers made contributions out of their own will.
The government has been overcoming hardships since 2021. The ceremony is an indication of the resurgence of the domestic business and national economy. Because of their good will and prospering business well-wishers could make donations. It is a pleasure for all that people of all walks of life and places are making contributions.
The contributions will be provided to other stormhit areas apart from Rakhine State. The Senior General said he regarded all the donors far and near and their goodwill with admiration. He said normally, blood is thicker in emergency times, but as the saying which goes “strength of nation lies within” the country will be able to march along its desired path with peace and tranquility if all work in harmony and unison in any situation and any time.
Senior General Min Aung Hlaing accepted Ks-1 billion donated by officers, other ranks and families of the Tatmadaw(Army, Navy, and Air) from Adjutant General Lt-Gen Soe Min Oo. He also accepted cash donations from other well-wishers. A total of Ks-13.181 billions was donated by families of the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) and wellwishers at the ceremony. The Senior General and party cordially greeted the well wishers.
