SAC Vice Chairman Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win inspects Defence Services Self-Defence and Sports Institute in Yemon Cantonment, comforts those receiving medical treatments at Defence Services Orthopaedic Specialty Hospital in Mingaladon Township

Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win, accompanied by senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the commander of Yangon Command and officials this afternoon inspected the Defence Services Self-Defence and Sports Institute in Yemon Cantonment and comforted officers, other ranks and families receiving medical treatments at Defence Services Orthopaedic Specialty Hospital in Mingaladon Township.
First, the Vice-Senior General and party inspected the Defence Services Self-Defence and Sports Institute in Yemon Cantonment.
At the meeting hall of the institute, the commandant reported on implementation of four military building tasks, and conducting the training courses in training years. In his instructions, the Vice-Senior General said that conducting the training courses on basic and advanced sports and selfdefence to Tatmadaw members from the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) aims to emerge selected Tatmadaw athletes and turn out outstanding soldier athletes to be selected players of Myanmar national team so as to contribute to enhancement of Myanmar’s sport standard.
During the period from 1997-98 to 2022-23 financial years when the institute has been operated, 37 self-defence and sport courses were conducted to turn out 412 Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) selected players and Myanmar national selected players.
The commandant was instructed to turn out selected national players via Tatmadaw (Army,Navy and Air) selected players for bringing honour to the State during his assigned term and to set records on his endeavours during the period. In turning out the selected players, it is necessary to conduct training for athletes to have systematic skills and techniques as well as advanced techniques for international Olympic sports events. With regard to agriculture and livestock farming, the Vice-Senior General stressed the need to meet the target production set by the State. In so doing, quality strains of crops, fertile soil, water supply and agricultural techniques must be perfect. It is necessary to seek quality strains of crops whereas fertile soil must be prepared. Likewise, supply of water and drainage must be done correctly, and use of agricultural techniques must be emphasized. If so, peracre yield of crops will increase.
Moreover, quality pedigree of animal species must be used at the farms. And, it is necessary to provide animal feeds and vaccines to animals. As sufficient providing of nutritious feeds for servicemen from the institute and trainees are very important to fully implement the objectives of the institute, manageable scale livestock farming tasks must be done in line with the policies of the State.
The Vice-Senior General and party viewed training of trainees in Taekwondo, boxing and volleyball events in the gymnasium and training sessions for trainees in the football ground and coordinated necessary measures. Then, the Vice-Senior General viewed round the training aid for sports events and gave necessary instructions to officials.
On arrival at Defence Services Orthopaedic Specialty Hospital (500-bed), the Vice-Senior General and party were welcomed by the commandant and officials.
The Vice-Senior General viewed round officers, other ranks and families receiving medical treatments at the hospital, asked after their health conditions and presented foodstuffs and assistance.
The Vice-Senior General presented cash award for health staff serving duties at the hospital to officials.
