State Administration Council Vice Chairman Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win delivers address at the ceremony to mark 59th Anniversary of MPF Day

The 59th Anniversary of Myanmar Police Force Day was marked at Myanmar International Convention Centre-II in Nay Pyi Taw at 9 am today, with an address by Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win.
Also present at the ceremony were SAC members, Union ministers, union-level officials, senior military officers, deputy ministers, diplomats, guests from international organizations, departmental heads, those from women’s affairs and related organizations, the chief of Myanmar Police Force and members, retired senior police officers and officials.
First, they saluted the flag of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and took a one minute silence in memory of fallen police members.
On the occasion, the Vice-Senior General said that Myanmar police force was reformed in the post-independence era and it was identified the People’s Police Force on 1 October 1964 and designated as the Police Force Day. On 1 October 1995, it was renamed the Myanmar Police Force. MPF has been reformed to have form and essence for serving the public interests under its theme on loyalty, concentration and bravery. Now, it falls the 59th Anniversary of MPF Day.
The Vice-Senior General stressed that MPF has to join hands with the Tatmadaw in emphasizing peace and stability of the Union and rule of law for ensuring safety of socio-economic life of the people in successfully implementing five-point roadmap and nine objectives.
In this regard, Myanmar Police Force has to serve four missions on security and community peace and tranquility, rule of law, prevention of narcotic drugs, and public welfare tasks.
Transnational crime is a challenge for development of political, economic and social development of the people and State security and a threat for human security. These crimes are difficult to be solved by a single country. So, many countries are to cooperate with each other in combating these crimes.
In 2023, the Myanmar-Thailand- China transnational crime combating meeting took place in Bangkok and Mae Sot of Thailand to conduct the pilot operation against forced labor to commit online scam. They also effective cooperate with each other in combating the online scam cases from 1 April to 16 June 2023, taking action against 76 suspects in 119 online scam cases and 134 suspects in 58 online gambling cases.
Myanmar is closely cooperating with international organizations to combat danger of narcotic drugs. During the period from 2013 to 2022, Myanmar conducted special operations against narcotic drugs 38 times and is conducting the Operation 39 to prevent illegal import of prohibited precursor chemicals.
From 1 January to 31 August 2023, Myanmar arrested 5,974suspects in 4,380 cases with narcotic drugs and related accessories used in refining drugs worth more than Ks-623 billion.
Moreover, seized 108 items of narcotic drugs, precursor chemicals and related accessories worth more than Ks-936.723 billion (US$-446.058 million) were incinerated to mark the 36th International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking which fell on 26 June 2023.
Currently, human trafficking applies advancement of internet technologies across the world, human traffickers recruits new victims as part of new forms of trafficking in person. Myanmar enacted new anti-trafficking in person law on 16 June 2022 for effectively taking action against human traffickers. During the period from 2006 to August 2023, a total of 2,245 human trafficking cases were exposed and 6,516 suspects arrested. Moreover, Myanmar is combating regional human trafficking cases and the projects on prevention of human traffickers in cooperation with INTERPOL and ASEANPOL.
It is learnt that financial crimes and cybercrimes including money laundering is a threat at the global highest level. Therefore, to combat the money laundering and financing of terrorism, Myanmar Police Force is to give special consideration on working together with relevant partners of the Myanmar Central Bank, the Anti-Corruption Commission, law enforcement organizations and judiciary teams.
Recognizing the Myanmar Police Force members’ performance, orders and medals on courage and performance of Myanmar Police Force are scrutinized and awarded. I like to reiterate that the perseverance, diligence, spirit and endeavor of MPF members who lost life and sacrificed limbs on duty are honored and recognized.
Orders and medals on gallantry and performance of MPF were awarded during October 1, 2022 and October 1 of 2023.
Seven medals of Wunna Kyaw Htin, one badge of Ye Thiha, 19 badges of Ye Thura, 36 badges of Ye Bala, one badge of Ye Thurein, 5 badges of Ye Kyaw Thu were awarded and one Excellent Performance in Social Field medal(Third Class), 330 of Good Police Service badge, 829 of state police badge, 1,910 of Myanmar Police Force Joint Combat Badge,25 of Outstanding Public Service Badge, 57 of Public Service Badge, 4,167 of Peace and Development Badge, 7,388 in total, as well.
Building the Myanmar Police Force with the objectives of having patriotism, ability, modernization, the State provides necessary things to them. Each and every one of MPF is to maintain their ability from time to time with a sense of sympathy and honesty to ensure security and safety of the entire society.
In taking measures to ensure rule of law and security of the entire union, it is necessary to expose the convicted persons every hour working together with people and take effective action against them in accordance with the procedure. I like to urge all the MPF members to be dutiful in order that the MPF will be respected by the entire people. To do so, all the MPF members at different levels need to work in unity without any form of discrimination.
MPF members at different levels are urged to focus on the law and protocol with skill of police work and a sense of stability in mind and correctness when discharging duties to safeguard the interests of the people and to win the respect of the entire people.
Then, the video clip of the anniversary of the 59th Myanmar Police Force was shown.
Afterwards, the Vice-Senior General presented awards and orders to four MPF members and one person, and Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Yar Pyae six persons including four members of MPF.
Then, the Vice-Senior General had a documentary photo taken with the attendees and viewed the exhibits displayed on the anniversary event.
Next, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and Head of Myanmar Police Force Lt-Gen Ni Lin Aung addressed the speech to mark the Myanmar Police Force’s anniversary and presented certificates of promotion to the outstanding members of MPF.
