    The prize-presentation ceremony of the 24th Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition was held at the Conference Hall of MICC-II here this morning, addressed by Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing. Also present were Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, wife of the Senior General, Daw Than Than Nwe, wife of the SAC Vice Chairman the Deputy Prime Minister, the Joint SAC Secretary and wife, SAC members and wives , union level officials, union ministers, the Nay Pyi Taw Council chair, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the Nay Pyi Taw Command commander, deputy ministers, members of the steering committee, work committee and subcommittees, ministers of regions and states, judges, supervisors, coaches, aides, national brethren prizewinners, traditional dance troupes from regions and states and officials.

In his address, the Senior General said the 24th Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition successfully concluded on a grand-scale in accord with its objectives.

May the love and unity among national brethren be strong themed more by preserving and protecting national cultural heritage, and may all the contestants become the persons who can uplift the hour of the race, inherent pride and national pride based on the existing love and friendship, he said in his greetings.

The Senior General also said the competition was held for 22 times from 1993 to 2016 with the aim of promoting the love for traditional culture among new generation youths, and awakening national fervor sand patriotism to protect the interest of the country and race, alongside the efforts to discover and  preserve the delicate and high-standard Myanmar traditional performing arts.

After an over five-year break, SAC organized the 23rd competition in 2022, and this year, it successfully held the 24th competition. In this regard, the prize-presentation ceremony could be held at the auspicious moment.

During the 23rd competition in 2022, the number of contestants at the central level was higher than anticipated even though the repercussions of COVID-19 still remained.

The fact stands witness to a large number of seasoned artists and new generation artists longing for the competition during its break. The number of contestants at the central level of the 24th competition was 2,306, which is an increase of 468, when compared with the 23rd competition’s 1,838. It’s a pleasure for all.

The competition was organized for three events in singing contest, eight events in dancing contest, four events in song-composing contest and 13 evens in playing music contest, totaling 28. Five categories for contestants—amateur (first class), amateur (second class), higher education, basic education (aged 15-20) and basic education (aged 10-15)—were allowed for competitions.

Last year, number of medalists was 181 gold medalists, 143 silver medalists, 121 bronze medalists, 56 consolation medalists and two special medalists, totaling 503. This year, number of winners will be 171 gold medalists, 156 silver medalists, 156 bronze medalists, consolation medalists and special medalists, more than last year.

Currently, the government of the State Administration Council is striving for forging peace and stability of the future State, ensuring solidarity among the ethnics and developing socio-economy of citizens. On one hand, the youths who will shape the future of the State are being nurtured to become good and able persons of the State with five categories of strengths.

In order to possess five kinds of strengths, fine arts is a basic factor to nurture the youths to have the traditional culture and customs.

Moreover, only when Myanmar music, dancing and traditional culture are thriving, will the youths have mental improvements on the correct national path and will they have improved national strengths.

Based on these successes the individuals won and mutual and firm compassion, those contestants have to serve the interests of their regions, the State and citizens on their arrival back in their regions. The Senior General urged them to build the beautiful Union through the unity.

Then, the Senior General presented prizes of honor to traditional dance troupes from Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Rakhine and Shan states respectively.

Shan traditional dance troupe performed dancing to the audiences.

On the agenda of second portion, the wife of the SAC Chairman Prime Minister presented medals and certificates of honor to winners in the amateur level first and second class women’s classical song contest.

The wife of the SAC Vice Chairman Deputy Prime Minister, the wife of the Joint Secretary and the wives of the council members presented medals and certificates of honor to winners in the higher education and basic education (aged 15-20) women’s and (aged 10-15) girls’ classical song contest respectively.

SAC members gave medals and certificates of honor to winners in the amateur first and second class, higher education, basic education (aged 15-20) men’s and basic education (aged 10-15) boys’ classical song contest and winners in the amateur first and second class, higher education, basic education (aged 15-20) men’s and basic education (aged 10-15) boys’ old/modern song contest respectively.

Council members and their wives and Union-level officials presented medals and certificates of honor to winners in the amateur first and second classes, higher education, basic education (aged 15-20) women’s and basic education (aged 10-15) girls’ old/modern song contest and amateur second class and higher education men’s song composing contests respectively.

Then, Ma Khin Yadana Moe Myint, who represented Sagging Region and won the gold medal in Basic Education Level old/modern song contest (Between ages of 15 and 20 years) (Women) entertained the audience with Ywatharyar song.

Afterwards, union level officials and union ministers presented honorary medals and certificates to prize winners in Amateur Level (First Class), Amateur Level (Second Class), Higher Education Level and Basic Education Level (Between ages of 15 and 20 years) and Basic Education Level (Between ages of 10 and 15) dance contests, winners of prizes for supporting Myanmar Traditional Saing Orchestras, winners of prizes in marionette, narration, Gabyalut dance, Shan traditional dance contests.

Then, Ma May Snow, who represented Kayin State and won the gold medal in Basic Education Level Dance contest (Between ages of 10 and 15), entertained the audience with dances.

Afterwards, union ministers presented honorary medals and certificates to winners in writing contests.

Then, Ma Han Su Su San, who represented Yangon Region and won the gold medal in Basic Education Level Writing contest (Between ages of 15 and 20 years), entertained the audience with Warkyutkhahmi Tuyarthi song.

Afterwards, union ministers presented honorary medals and certificates to winners in harp contests, piano contests, Saying orchestra and individual contests.

Then, the Senior General presented honorary prizes to cultural dance troupes from Sagaing, Taninthayi, Magway, Mandalay, Yangon and Ayeyawady regions.

Afterwards, union ministers, the chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, the chairman of the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission and senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief presented honorary medals and certificates to winners in short drum, long drum, violin, oboe, flute, mandolin, xylophone, guitar and zither contests.

Then, Ma Shin Thada Htet Aung, who represented Sagging Region and won the gold medal in Basic Education Level Harp contest (Between ages of 15 and 20) played the harp to the audience.

Afterward, the joint secretary of the SAC presented special prizes to eight participants who were the eldest, the youngest and the disabled.

Then, the wife of the Senior General presented honorary medals and certificates to the first, second, third and consolation prizes to winners in marionette contests, outstanding puppeteers, narrators, Sating orchestras and script writers.

Then, the Senior General presented honorary medals and certificates to the first, second, third and consolation prizes to winning teams in Mahawthada jataka contests and those who won the Prince Mahawthada prize, the Princess Amara prize, the Kaywut Brahmin prize, romantic double dance prizes, script prizes, supporting prizes and director prizes.After the ceremony,

the Senior General and wife cordially greeted the attendees.

During the competitions, 143 prizes were won by Yangon Region, 81 prizes were won by Mandalay Region, 56 prize were won by Ayeyawady Region, 31 prizes were won by Kayin State, 32 prizes were won by Sagging Region, 40 prizes were won by Bago Region, 32 prizes were won by Mon State, 17 prizes were won by Rakhine State, 19 prizes were won by Taninthayi Region, 19 prizes were won by Kachin State, 16 prizes were won Kayah State, 15 prizes were won by Shan State, 14 prizes were won by Chin State and 16 prizes were won by Magway Region.
