Vice Chairman of State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win meets Yangon Region government members, district/township officials

Vice Chairman of State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win met Yangon Region government members, district/township officials at the region government office this morning and discussed regional development and economic matters.
Present together with the Vice-Senior General were SAC member Dr Ba Shwe, union ministers, the region chief minister, senior military officers from the Office of the Commanderin-Chief, the Yangon Command commander.
Chief Minister U Soe Thein reported on local points, regional development undertakings, farming activities, loans disbursed to businesspersons from national economic development fund, issuance of MSME member cards, ongoing businesses of Thilawa Special Economic Zone, formation of public security supervisory teams and progress in implementing the guidance of Head of State with the help of powerpoint.
District/township officials reported on cooperation rendered by the relevant officials for progress of multiple sectors including social, health, economic, farming, preparations for population and housing census that will be launched in the entire country from 1 to 15 October 2024, specifications and systematic selection of entitled persons of people’s militia service law and Pankin project.
The Vice-Senior General asked for more information and looked into the requirements. He said the meeting was held to know the progress in implementing the Head of State’s guidance and to attend to the needs through coordination. It is found that seeders increase summer paddy. Hence technological dissemination and correct methods are required to increase yield. According to the Head of State’s guidance, Yangon Region must strive to ensure food sufficiency. Hence yearwise success is needed to ensure 100 percent food sufficiency in the region.
Yangon has raised nearly 20 million layers and broilers in its commercial and manageablescale farms. In order to reduce cost, the Head of State has instructed the Tatmadaw to establish feedstuff factories. In this way products will be about 20 percent cheaper than the market price, and no need to rely on private businesses.Farming will gain more success if feedstuff factories can be set up for chicken, pig, fish, and cattle farms.
The State has provided over Ks- 8 billion for national economic development, and Ks- 7.5 billion of them go to businesspersons. But the loans must be actually used for business. Loans include short-term, midterm and long-term loans. Business persons must do their work correctly and the officials should check whether they are actually using the funds for their businesses. Entrepreneurs will be able to pay back their loans only through actual business operations. Repaid funds can be used in other necessary areas.
It is necessary to implement public security organizations not in the statistics but on the ground actually and effectively. The population and household census that is conducted once in decade will be conducted from 1 to 15 October in 2024 in the entire country and it is necessary to make preparations to conduct the census successfully. Conducting population census is related to the people who are residing in the entire country. Conducting population census is different from voting and conducting correct population census is important for the country. Only population censuses are conducted correctly, can contributions be made for education, health, defene and social and economic affairs and can proper measures be taken for development of regions and state. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct the population census properly.
As the rainy season is arriving soon, respective townships are required to carry out pre-monsoon agricultural tasks to meet targets. Moreover, preparations must be made for floods that occur in rainy seasons. In connection with health, measures must be taken to prevent rainy season endemics as much as possible. As for education, schools are reopening soon and measures must be taken to open all schools. Concerted efforts must be made systematically to enable all school-aged children to go to school, to go to school continuously without disruption and safely, in accordance with the instructions of the Prime Minister.
In accordance with the instructions of the Prime Minister, sunflower and other oil crops must be cultivated systematically. In connection with MSMEs, more efforts must be made and measures must be taken to carry out manageable level businesses and medium business successfully. As revenues are earned by cooperation with factories and workshops in the Thilawa Special Economic Zone, efforts must be made to increase revenues. It is necessary to carry out tasks to produce foodstuffs and consumer product not only for the local market but also to export new agricultural and livestock breeding products to other countries.
In connection with security matters, security awareness must be raised to prevent loopholes in the region and responsible officials are required to prevent unnecessary bullying and blackmailing in accordance with the law. Concerning with the People' Military Law, provisions have been enacted but it is found that destructive media are spreading rumours to undermine stability and cause fear among the public. The government has been implementing the law in accordance with the law.
As the Yangon Region is the economic capital of the country, relentless efforts must be made to contribute to the economic development of the country. In doing so, it is necessary not to rely on the budget approved by the government but on measures taken to earn revenues to stand on their own feet. In implementing tasks in respective economic zones, it is necessary for responsible officials to coordinate and take proper measures to solve issues of water, electricity and labour in accordance with the frameworks laid down.
