Tatmadaw columns crushed KKO (breakaway) Kyaw Thet group and PDF terrorists, who are committing terrorist acts in the surrounding areas of Kawkareik, restoring peace and stability in the town

KKO (breakaway) Kyaw Thet group and PDF terrorists with the intention of disturbing and attacking Kyawkareik town and local unit headquarters tried to enter the town through Kaunghmu, Yankok and Kyaungshargon villages in the north of the town along the old Kyakareik-Thingannyinaung road in the early April with a much larger force.
Hence there were 13 clashes with local security forces.
Terrorist insurgents made reinforcements and continued to attack the northern sector of Kawkareik, fired heavy weapon rounds at the town from villages in the east, and infiltrated the wards in the town’s edge and committed terrorist acts including torching local people’s homes and looting.
The Tatmadaw columns also made reinforcements and launched heavy-weapon supported Counterterrorism Operations in the surrounding areas of Kawkareik beginning 19 April and gained ground stage by stage.
There were nine clashes with terrorists, and the Tatmadaw could control the area on 22 April. Dueing the battles, Tatmadaw seized some bodies, and arms, ammunition and accessories of terrorist insurgents.
Some Tatmadaw officers and other ranks were wounded.
Terrorist insurgents fled in disarray to the north of the town along the direction they used to attack the town towards Kaunghmu Village.
Tatmadaw columns are in hot pursuit of the fleeing terrorist insurgents, clearing debris, carrying out town rehabilitation and clearing mines for public safety. Moreover, they were assuring the people who left their homes with apprehension to return to their homes.
Up to 27 April, 362 men and 235 women, totaling 597 of 288 households returned to their homes. More are returning to their homes.
